Lead Software Development Engineer

As a Lead Software Development Engineer at Sensecloud, you will drive the technical foundation of our agentic AI platform that powers next-generation procurement operations. You will architect and build high-performance systems, integrate AI/ML models into production workflows, and lead engineering initiatives that unlock real-time decisioning, automation, and scalable data intelligence.

This is a deeply hands-on engineering leadership role - ideal for someone who enjoys designing complex systems, writing production-grade code, and elevating the engineering team through mentorship and architectural guidance.

‍Key Responsibilities

AI-Driven Product Development

• Design and implement scalable services and data pipelines powering Sensecloud’s AI agents, ensuring reliability, low latency, and high data quality.
• Integrate machine learning models and agentic workflows into customer-facing applications in partnership with AI/ML engineers.
• Build systems that operationalize LLMs, embeddings, vector search, semantic enrichment, and automated reasoning.

Platform Engineering

• Architect cloud-native, distributed systems capable of processing large-scale procurement data workloads.
• Build and scale REST, GraphQL, and streaming APIs to support internal services, external integrations, and multi-tenant experiences.
• Develop fault-tolerant microservices with strong observability, performance tuning, and operational resilience baked in.

Technical Leadership & Architectural Influence

• Drive system-wide architectural decisions across data, APIs, AI agents, and platform orchestration.
• Define engineering standards, coding best practices, and design patterns to ensure long-term scalability and maintainability.
• Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and AI tooling to strengthen Sensecloud’s platform architecture.

Mentorship and Delivery Ownership

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers - setting technical direction, conducting design/architecture reviews, and guiding problem-solving.
• Collaborate closely with product, AI/ML, DevOps, and design teams to translate business requirements into high-impact technical solutions.
• Champion a culture of engineering excellence, velocity, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

• Develop and optimize DevOps pipelines for CI/CD, automating testing, deployment, and environment management.
• Establish engineering KPIs around system performance, quality, and productivity.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in fast-paced or startup environments.
• Proven track record of designing, building, and scaling distributed, cloud-native systems.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python and Java, with deep knowledge of system design, concurrency, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience deploying to AWS/GCP/Azure and building high-performing, multi-tenant SaaS applications.
• Strong architectural intuition, with experience breaking down complex requirements into clean, modular systems.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers, leading projects, and influencing cross-team decisions.
• Ability to operate autonomously, navigate ambiguity, and solve high-impact technical problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in procurement, supply chain, or enterprise data systems.
• Background in AI/ML integration, LLM orchestration, vector databases, embeddings, semantic search.
• Strong knowledge of streaming and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Flink, Spark, etc.).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with knowledge graphs, semantic layers, and ontology-driven designs.
• Strong understanding of security best practices (encryption, IAM, compliance frameworks).
• Curiosity, resilience, and a passion for learning and innovating in fast-evolving AI ecosystems.
